Ron Woods has been associated with the American space program for the past thirty six years. He has had the opportunity during this time to be involved with the maintenance on the Apollo/Shuttle space suits, assisting the astronauts with the suiting process for training in the water immersion facility, the zero-g aircraft, altitude chamber testing and flight. He was assigned as a support technician to Apollo 8, 11, 15, Skylab 2, 3, 4, Apollo-Soyuz, Shuttle flights STS-1 and 2.

Since 1982, Ron has been assigned to the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Resident Office (Houston) at the Kennedy Space Center. He is now involved in the processing of JSC provided flight equipment used in support to the Shuttle missions and the International Space Station.

Ron also shares his interest of the space program providing educational space awareness seminars to various civic organizations and schools. He has created a Dr. Space character thru these educational experiences with young children and the young at heart. He has paralleled his space work with his artistic ability creating a balance of his experiences with the Apollo/Shuttle program and his vision of the future of the United States Space Program. Ron works with watercolors, oils, acrylics and pencil and also does floras, portraits, cars and landscapes.


Dr. Space lingers in the dramatic light of the Apollo Moon-Voyaging Era. He endeavors to deliver the excitement of man’s greatest adventure to all those he encounters.

Dr. Space sees a future where Earth’s fragile beauty will once again be beheld by men on excursion to the Lunar surface.

There will come the day when Moon University orbits the Lunar sphere offering academic environs unlike any in the history of higher education in anticipation of the next "Giant Leap".
